Clint Hendricks of RoadCover wins the Midvaal 100 Cycle Challenge on Sunday.

The 100 kilometer cycle event from Midvaal Raceway took place over the weekend, and on a winday day, the deciding factor was the weather on the undulating route.

The RoadCover team on the move

A large group escaped early on, and included riders from the RoadCover Cycling Team, Calvin Beneke of Team BCX, Alex Pavlov of Northcliff Cycles as well as a few veteran riders, Egon Campbell of the Token cycling team.

Hendricks had itchy legs, after missing the move in the previous day's Satellite Challenge, so attacked the group, eventually getting Willie Smit along with him. A chase formed with Calvin Beneke and Alex Pavlov. Hendricks eventually rode clear of Smit to win the race. Smit came home in second place, and Beneke outsprinted Pavlov for the final podium spot.

The 100km results:

1st Clint Hendricks (RoadCover) 2:25:56

2nd Willie Smit (RoadCover) @1:03

3rd Calvin Beneke (Team BCX) @ 1:28

4th Alex Pavlov (Northcliff Cycles) st.

5th Ryan Harris (RoadCover) @ 2:08

6th Jaco Cronje st.

7th Egon Campbell (Token) st.
